Fishing shorts by AFTCO. In 1989, AFTCO introduced the first pair of men's fishing shorts. Designed and built specifically for saltwater fishermen, the M01 Original Fishing Shorts are considered the best fishing shorts in the world. The Original Fishing Shorts brought a number of innovative features to the marketplace, the foremost of which was the introduction of a CORDURA® lined plier pocket. Every pair of AFTCO offshore fishing shorts for men now include a CORDURA® lined plier pocket.
There are two main AFTCO Fishing Shorts categories. The first is our line of traditional fishing shorts, the cornerstone of this category being the M01 Original Saltwater Fishing Short that was mentioned above. All shorts in our traditional shorts category are built to be worn around, near and in the water. They are a compromise between your standard swimsuit fabric and a typical walkshort, with belt loops, side seam pockets and quick dry fabrics.
As styles have progressed, so have our products. In 2011, AFTCO re-launched our second major category of shorts, saltwater fishing boardshorts. Our boardshorts feature AFLEX 4-way mind stretch, AFGUARD stain resistance and additional AFTECH technologies. Unlike our traditional fishing shorts, none of our boardshort styles have belt loops and are constructed more like a surf short than a walk short.
